Netflix rival for Jim Sheridan’s film on sophie Toscan du Plantier murder

The producers of Man on Wire and Searching for Sugar Man are developing a documentary about the unsolved west Cork murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier for Netflix.

Simon Chinn, an English producer whose other credits include The Imposter (2012) and Whitney (2018), is leading the project for the streaming service through his company Lightbox.

The series, thought to consist of four one-hour episodes, is one of two projects currently in development about the murder of the French television and film producer, who was killed at her holiday cottage near Schull shortly before Christmas in 1996.
