The Boys made certain of the fact that we’ll never see superheroes in the same way again. After a no-holds-barred first season with some of the most despicable characters on the planet, many have been wondering whether or not we’ll see a continuation of this Amazon Prime Original.

The great news is that we will be seeing The Spice Girls make a comeback - and we’re not talking about Gerri Halliwell and that lot. The Boys was already commissioned for at least two seasons by Amazon when it was originally picked up, so we won’t be left in the lurch on that cliffhanger (if you know, you know).

We’ve flown across the net with laser eyes to seek out all the latest secrets about Eric Kripke’s show. So if you’d like to know more about the future of The Boys (and The Seven, of course) then read on.

When will season 2 of The Boys air?

As of yet we don’t have a concrete date for season 2. However, filming is currently underway as we speak, so they may be on track for a summer 2020 release, perhaps one year on after the first season. Here’s to hoping.

How to watch season 2

If you want to be ready for season 2 of The Boys - or catch up on season 1 for that matter - you’ll need an Amazon Prime account to access Amazon Video. It's not just entertainment that you'll get with a Prime account; read more about the benefits of signing up to Amazon Prime.

Is there a trailer?

Seeing as filming is still in process at the moment, it’s probably unsurprising to hear that there is currently no trailer for season 2 of The Boys. But keep checking back here - we’ll be on the update as soon as its out.

What is the plot for the next season?

Spoiler warning for season 1 of The Boys. If you’re not all caught up on the plot, don't scroll any further.

So, Homelander can’t really get any worse can he? After killing Stillwell (and most likely leaving her poor child to be blown up), he’s taken Billy Butcher to the house of his long-time missing wife, Becca. There, he revealed that not only is she alive, but she’s also a mother to a young boy… and the father is none other than Homelander himself. Yep, we got a supe child on the loose.

This is actually a wild deviation from the graphic novel, so we can’t predict where the plot is going to go. It still remains to be seen whether or not Becca was in fact forced by Homelander to sleep with him as Billy believes, or if she was just having an affair, as Homelander claims. Either way - Billy is in for some shocking revelations when it comes to his wife who he'd originally believed to be dead.

Season 2 will also see some new faces join the main cast. Giancarlo Esposito made a brief appearance as Stan Edgar in the finale of last season, and it's now been revealed that the Breaking Bad star will be acting essentially as the new Stillwell - so likely just as (if not more) despicable. We can’t wait.

With Translucent blown to smithereens, and The Deep permanently demoted and away in Ohio, some new slots have opened up in The Seven. We know for a fact that one will likely be filled by a new character: Stormfront, played by Aya Cash.

In the comics, Stormfront is a prototype superhero from the 1930’s with powers similar to Shazam… oh yeah, and a Nazi. The Seven is about to get a whole lot more nasty than before.

The other replacement isn’t yet confirmed, but whispers around the net seem to think that Tek-Knight will be the next supe on the block. Based off of Batman, this ‘hero’ has a sex addiction in the comics, so all bets are off as to whether this is a plot that will be pursued.

We’ll also likely see some more from the terrorist super-villains that are currently in development. The media will no doubt be planting the seeds for a supe battle - and we’re guessing that they may try to paint The Boys as a group of villains in the future.

Finally, we also saw glimpses of doubt being placed in the minds of Queen Maeve and A-Train about whether they were fighting for the right cause. We can’t help but wonder whether or not we’re going to eventually see The Seven split up, with some (namely Starlight) turning on Homelander all together. Basically, we just want some super-powered battle scenes. Is it too much to ask?
